Betta splendens Fish Diseases and Cures

Eventhough the common cause of
Betta splendens death is not diseases. We still have to understand that
Betta fish will catch disease at least once. Here you can find information about general diseases, the cause, symptoms, cures and prevention tricks.
White Spot Disease:
Cause:
Icthtiopthirius multifiliis
Source:
Dirty and low-PH water. The spores brought by water fleas and mosquito larvae, and/or other natural foods that live in such water.
Symptoms:
Body covered with tiny white spots.
Weird swimming style (because of the itch)
Fish seems powerless
Treatment:
Prepare a container (measuring twice the length of the fish)
Fill with water +/- 10-15 cm high. (1 inch = 2.54 cm)
Mix the water with 1-2 drops of anti-itch (Blitz-Itch, Fishmate, Rid-All, etc.)
Put the fish into the prepared container for 5-8 hours, food is not necessary but don't let the fish starves
Change the water in the container filled with new mixture.
The fish is recovering when it stares to other fishes. Keep the medication once/twice more.
Prevention:
Always clean the natural foods before giving it to the fish. We mix the water in the foods container with a few drops of anti-itch.
